No Sex Please, We’re Indians!

Ekta Kapoor’s attempt to cash in on sensation has been steamrolled by the Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers.

The Soap Queen wanted the title of her next movie to be Love, Sex Aur Dhokha. The movie is to be directed by Dipakar Banerjee (of Khosla Ka Ghosla fame). But the AMPTPP put paid to their plans as they found the title to be too obscene.

I’ll admit I agree with the Association. Sorry Ekta, the title you want is a bit too racy for Indian audiences to digest. ‘Pappu Can’t Dance Saala’, had impressionable kids mouthing the expletive like it was quite ok for them to do so. Making a movie that has ‘sex’ in the title would definitely make an unwanted addition to the kids’ vocabulary.

So my suggestion to you would be to chuck sensationalism and choose a title more in keeping with Indian sensibilities.

And anyway darling, ‘Love, Sex Aur Dhokha’ sounds surprisingly similar to that 1980s Hollywood hit- ‘Sex, Lies And Videotape’. Too similar to be a co-incidence, hmm….

So instead of blatantly copying Hollywood hits, try a bit of originality for a change, will you!!
