Lame-brained Mayawati’s scandalous spending stopped by the court
For a country hit hard by the global economic meltdown, a billion-dollar scam and a loss of millions of jobs, one would imagine that using our tax-payer income to fortify our economic infrastructure would be top priority for our governing bodies. The Mayawati government however, seems to think otherwise.
In recent months, the Uttar Pradesh government spearheaded by Mayawati has splurged – hold your breath – Rs. 26,000 crore on memorials for Kanshiram and other leaders in Lucknow. This figure is surely no mean amount. The Supreme Court even went so far as to issue an ultimatum, ordering that all construction activity to be halted with immediate notice.
As reported by a leading national daily, a bench of Justices B N Aggrawal and Aftab Alam refused to cut the state counsel Satish Chandra Mishra any slack.
“We have to examine it. It (decision) cannot be arbitrary because it involves tax payers’ money. You cannot spend it as you like it,”
Well said your honour. Now only if we could persuade the Maharashtra government which, turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to the plight of a drought-hit state, plans to spend Rs 300 crore on a 321 feet statue. Maybe, just maybe, our tax-payers deserve better than that… what say, Rahul Gandhi?

wel a whopping amt of 260000 crores is lumpsum which can be efficiently utilised for poor &unemloyed in UP roam around in whole contry in search of job &livihood ……….
can’t mayavati see how badly those UPites are treated in maharastra &other states & laughed upon, if not then surely UPites had made a wrong choice by electing her as their saviour who is just busy in realising her luxory dreams……….at the cost of progress,development& sinking future of uttar predesh .
people should learn a lesson that electing someone known is not always a right choice……..
