Jaya Prada ko rona kyon aata hai?
In an era of socialite politicos and celebrity netas, former Bollywood PYT Jaya Prada is now a familiar face in Andhra Pradesh’s political web. The erstwhile actress who had earned accolades from none other than the late Satyajit Ray himself for owning the most ‘beautiful face in the film industry’ was in for a rude shock however, when she took her maiden trip to her newfound Rampur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. News channels greedily lapped up footage of the Samajwadi Party MP bawling her eyes out when confronted with Ground Zero reality… and no, she wasn’t exactly moved to tears by the plight of the homeless, poverty-stricken villagers.
Jaya Prada’s tears sprung out for far more personal reasons, a few of which include:
- Travelling in a small boat with nothing more than her prayers to safeguard her from the swirling waters.
- A bumpy ride on a bullock cart which ended up with the pretty lady spraining her delicate ankle.
- A dressing down by former Samajwadi Party leader and MLA Azam Khan, who reportedly used derogatory language when talking to her over the phone.
Jayaji, pardon the insolence, but politics isn’t exactly as glossy and high-profile as most people make it out to be. The situation becomes that much more difficult if you aren’t tied in to the local nexus of greedy goons and power-hungry MLAs. If you really want to make a difference in your newfound neta avatar, perhaps you should start by stepping down from your ivory tower a little more often to actually network with the people you should be taking care of. Crying and sobbing is all understandable when you are a ditzy diva whose world revolves completely around herself… not when you swear to place the Good of the People before that of your own.
So, spare us the fake bhashan about ‘how cruel nature, fate and God can sometimes be’ and put some serious thought and effort into living up to your promise of building proper roads, before your empty little mind gets preoccupied with meaningless activities like dharanas, sit-ins, and ritual lamp-lighting inauguration ceremonies.
