Chandrayaan-I: Lunatic scientists fight over cause of success!
On October 22, 2008, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) created history, launching our country’s first unmanned lunar probe. And thus, India became only the fourth country in the world to hoist our flag on lunar terrain.
Fast-forward to August 2009, when ISRO experts discovered that Chandrayaan-I had suffered from a star sensor failure and overheating which, in essence, rendered the probe ineffective. Sounds fair enough; after all, space technology isn’t exactly old hat as yet, and we can always learn from our mistakes and try again, right?
Wrong! It seems like the ISRO debacle is degenerating into a juvenile verbal fight among scientists. While one band of scientists point accusatory fingers at the sun, blaming its hyperactive electro-magnetism for ruining their efforts, another group claims that they goofed up by making bloated promises and over-estimating the possible life-span of the probe. They claim that ISRO has lasted a lot longer than any other lunar crafts and that no lunar spacecraft can work for two years.
But honestly, is there really any need to get so defensive and hostile about a technical failure when we’ve got such a wealth of information to learn from? C’mon guys, look at the bigger picture for God’s sake. We are only the fourth country ever to launch a lunar probe. It is not a failure. It is a goddamm success! Can you not digest success?
You are the best brains our country has ever produced. Leave the blaming and finger-pointing to the Bollywood brats and the political sleazies will you?
Squeeze a bit more!
