Priety Zinta
Rani Mukherjee was asked if she was contemplating buying a stake in IPL teams but she refuses to follow the example of Shilpa, Priety and Juhi and buy an IPL team. She says she has no money. Well, that is not surprising. Her movies are not raking in too much moolah these days. Think Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and the other one with Saif …… yeah Tara Rum Pum.
Well at least she plays a cricket buff in Dil Bole Hadippa.
She thinks she can’t take on such a big responsibility as owning an IPL team. The timid girl won’t venture into film production or direction either. Her movies aren’t getting rave reviews and she faces the risk of fading away soon if she doesn’t take a big chance at something important in her life.
What’s wrong with you Rani? Where’s that risk-taking passion and fire that wowed your fans in earlier times? Have you become so uninspired and bloated with earlier success that you’ve surrendered yourself to the lazy Bollywood comfort zone?

Bollywood hypocrisy, male chauvinism and a fast fading Preity Zinta

Faced with the onslaught of the twenty-something brigade, another top actress bites the dust. This time it’s pretty, the dimpled lass- Preity Zinta. Poor Preity has no films in hand other than the mediocre Heaven And Earth. Even good friend Karan Johar, with whom she did Kal Ho Na Ho and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, has stopped casting her in his films. So what does an out of work, aging actress do? Elementary, my dear Watson. She simply jumps onto the item number bandwagon. Yes, Preity’s doing an item number in Salman Khan’s Main Aur Mrs Khanna. The bitter truth is that it’s a man’s world and Bollywood is a cruel extension of the truism. Grrr, it gets my blood to boiling point that the aging Khan Quartet and the equally aging Akshay Kumar are still going great guns, running around trees with girls half their age, while great actresses of the calibre of Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Bipasha Basu have fallen by the wayside. Oh, the injustice of it all…… Bollywood is still light years from Hollywood where older actresses like Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston get to sink their teeth into meaty roles. And till we get there, if we ever do, our actresses will have to make do with ‘Main Aayee Hoon UP Bihar Lootne’ and other nonsensical numbers……grrrrr!

Preity Zinta is doing an item number in Salman Khan’s Main Aur Mrs Khanna. And can you believe it- her look, outfit and jhatka-matkas are eerily similar to Aishwarya Rai’s in Kajra Re. Talk about co-incidences, phew!
Hey, I’m not jumping to any conclusions here, no way. Nor am I creating a storm in a teacup….
But I get the distinct feeling that apna Sallu Bhai hasn’t been able to get Aishwarya out of his system yet. Yeah, a modern, though covert Devdas. And that’s the reason why he’s got good friend Preity to imitate Ash’s every Kajra re nuance in this item number!
And it’s not the first time that Salman’s done this. Remember a certain Sneha Ullal- Ash’s lookalike whom he had introduced in that movie Lucky? Salman’s dictate seems to be- if you can’t get the original, do the next best thing– get a stand in.
If only Salman could do that in his love life too. Poor Sallu Bhai….even after all these years, to think that Aish can still affect him like this way. That must have been one intense love affair.

It’s not unusual to see Priety Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan going in and out of Lalit Modi’s office. Of course, he’s the man responsible for the marriage of cricket and Bollywood… But to see Sallu Bhai, with sister Arpita in tow waiting outside his room was quite a shocker.
They say he wanted to have a heart-to-heart with Modi to find out what it takes to own and manage an IPL team. Really Salman? Is this the business plan that will keep the monies flowing in while you get married and have kids?
Or are you planning to say goodbye to the Bollywood career? Isn’t that what pretty Priety did a few years ago?
God forbid if you should retire… Who’s going to give me so much to write about!?
